Thanksgiving Update

OCT 14, 2026

Hello HAWPC Families,
We have had an amazing start to the season! The athletes are working extremely hard, and the results are already showing in the pool. As we head into the Thanksgiving Weekend, all of our athletes should be very proud of the work they have put in so far. Remember no practice Sunday October 11th, or Monday October 12th. 14U Girls will have the option to attend Wednesday October 14th in Brantford if they wish.
While the athletes enjoy their Thanksgiving Sunday/Monday Break, the coaches will be working with the Board this weekend to organize teams and TeamSnap.
A Few Housekeeping Notes
Pool Information Session – Tuesday October 6th 6:00 PM at Harry Howell Arena
We are hoping that parents can take some time out of their busy schedules to attend this important information session. It is important that our voices are heard and that we show the city how important a proper facility is to the continued growth of our sport club and our community.
A full 50-metre pool would be amazing (Brantford will have a second 50 meter built within 3 years). Unfortunately, I am not sure that the city sees the benefit of a full 50m pool. What I am really hoping for is that the city will consider building a 10-lane pool at this location.
A 10-lane pool would provide our community with adequate space to host a full-length game, while also giving us the training space we need to continue developing our athletes and growing our programs. Though the benefit for us is huge it is minimal compared to what this would bring to the overall City.
It is important that we attend this event and show our support. The more families we have there, the stronger our voice will be.
Crucial Training Time
HAWPC has always valued multi-sport participation and flexibility for our athletes. With that said, we really need families to prioritize weekly training in Brantford, particularly for our 14U athletes.
Monday is crucial for the development of our girls.
Wednesday is crucial for the development of our boys.
Sunday provides a great opportunity to work with both groups.
Our goal is to continue developing and establishing strong, competitive training groups within both programs. Consistent attendance is an important part of creating that training environment and allowing our athletes to continue progressing together.
Swim & Play Ball / Splashball
Both groups are progressing nicely as we approach the midway point of the season. A reminder that game day continues as usual Thanksgiving Weekend Saturday.
10U/12U COED – COMP
We will be adjusting our Saturday plan moving forward.
10U athletes will have the option of attending either of the following 90-minute training blocks:
12U Training: 8:15–9:45 AM
Swim & Play Ball Game Day: 9:15–10:45 AM
This will give families some flexibility while ensuring our 10U athletes continue to get valuable training and game experience.
Also please note we will be hosting a 12U/10U Gameday October 17th 2026 4:00-7:00 PM in Brantford.
16U Boys
Similar to our 16U Girls program, we will be opening up Monday training at MAC to our 16U Boys.
We Continue to Grow
HAWPC continues to grow, and we should all be proud of what we are building together.
We are, by far, the smallest-populated city in the country with the most teams, and that says a lot about the commitment of our athletes, families, coaches, and volunteers. We offer programming for athletes from 5 years old all the way to 99, creating opportunities for everyone to be involved in our sport and our club.
When other clubs and coaches choose to take the easy way out, we choose to work harder, build our club, and create opportunities for our athletes. That is who we are.
Be proud of who we are and what we do. Every single athlete is important — from our National Team athlete Wyatt who just competed at the Junior Pan American Championships, to our introductory Splashball athlete, and everyone in between. Every athlete is an important part of HAWPC, and every athlete represents the future of our club.
We are going to work very hard this week heading into the break, and I am excited about where we are going. We continue to grow, we continue to build, and we continue to push forward together.
Happy Thanksgiving!
