Big congrats to our athletes who competed this past weekend in the 17U NCL Tournament.  Our GTA Womens A team finished first, and our South Central team finished 3rd.  All of our athletes continued to improve, the hard work is definitely paying off.

Our 13U COED and 15U Boys teams also had an amazing game day at Wayne Gretzky on Saturday.  Great results in the water by both teams.  A HUGE thanks goes out to the parents and players who helped with set up and tear down.

Business as usual this week.  As we enter week 5 we begin reviewing skills while introducing open water movement.  Please note some athletes will be away this Saturday, because of the Tournament in London.  Coach Noah and Coach Emily will be at the helm this Saturday.

RYERSON POOL HAS RE-OPENED AHEAD OF SCHEDULE WE ARE BACK IN AT RYERSON THIS MONDAY REGULAR TIME.

SUNDAY’S PRACTICE WILL RUN FROM 4:00 6:00 PM at GRETZKY WITH ALL ATHLETES NOT IN LONDON IN THE WATER AT 4:00 PM

All game times are in Team Snap for all of the Teams.

Really Excited for the weekend cannot wait to see all of our OPL athletes in the Water for the first time in 2023.

Coaches will put out emails on Team Snap in relation to when athletes need to be on deck.  When in doubt rule of thumb is 1 hour before game time.

HAWPC FEB 6TH TO FEB 12TH

Reminder no practice this SUNDAY JANUARY 29th. 

FURTHER DUE TO A POOL CLOSURE NO PRACTICE MONDAY January 30th or February 6th @RYERSON. 

13U’s and 15U boys have a game day on Saturday Feb 4th vs. VAUGHN. 4:00-7:00 at GRETZKY. 

15u girls will have the option to attend Jimmy Thompson from 10:30 to 12:00 pm on Saturday Feb 4th. 

The Ryerson closure is expected to last 2 weeks.  If the pool does not reopen we will be forced to re-assess the schedule after the February long weekend. 

Further based on increased numbers of 11u comp we ask that only competitive 11u’s continue to attend the Monday at Jimmy Thompson pool.  The pool is full and this is a specific practice for 11u comp athletes in conjunction with HAMMEHEADS Triathlon club, No exceptions.

Another really great Saturday all the same timings for next week.  As a result of the snow closure we will add an additional Wednesday at the end of the session.  Based on the snow closure we are going to ask that all athletes in Swim and Play Ball register on Team Snap. 15U Boys participated in a scrimmage with KW @ U of G

Swim and Play Ball had their second game day

Across the board all coaches commented that our Athletes continued to get better with every quarter.  Great work.

Great second week of training.  Week 2 and week 3 are notorious for being very content heavy as we introduce many new concepts.  All of the athletes are progressing nicely.   I have attached a youtube video from a tournament in Texas this past Christmas.  The game is between the USA and Serbia.  

****REMINDER NO PRACTICE SUNDAY JANUARY 29th 2022****

We have a change in our schedule this week which is reflected on the Google Calendar.  

Coaches would like to see all 11U and 13U’s at Jimmy Thompson Saturday morning.  

I am trying to get an optional practice opportunity for our 15U and 17U athletes to attend Practice at University of Guelph from 4:00 -5:30 PM on Saturday but this optional Practice is not confirmed as of yet.

The London team has booked a block of rooms for the tournament in February if

anyone wishes to stay over. It’s the Hampton Inn on Exeter Rd. 1-855-215-3323;

March 31st -April 2nd – Etobicoke: March madness 11U, 13U, 15U

April 21st – 23rd – Etobicoke  15U/11U Provincials

May 12-14th – Brantford: 13U Provincials 

We will continue to look for more scrimmage days as we get closer to Provincials.

HAWPC JAN 23RD – 29TH

What an amazing first full week back in the water.  This weekend really showcased the depth of our Club. 

Three  of our athletes were selected to participate at the Summit Series in Montreal.

Congrats to: Rhys CARR, Cal LEES and Stella BABINEAU who not only represented the HAWPC but represented Ontario at this tournament.   

On top of the 3 athletes that attended, another member Jessie TURCOTT was listed as an alternate for the women’s team.

We are extremely proud of them all.  This is a big step for our Club as it has been a long time since we have had this many athletes involved with National Team Selection.

We also had our first game day of 2023 at Wayne Gretzky.  Our 13U’s and 11U’s teams played tough against Scarborough.  Thanks to all of the parents and older athletes who came out and helped make this event happen. 

From athletes representing the Province at the Summit Series, to athletes experiencing Water Polo for the first time at Swim and Play Ball this weekend was insane.

Good luck to all of our athletes who are playing at the Senior Tournament this weekend in Montreal.

Great first week, the energy and enthusiasm from the athletes was amazing. Looking forward to week 2.  Same schedule as last week.

This year we have made the decision to not attend the Titans Cup.  We will look to add extra scrimmages leading up to Provincials. 

In order for us to continue to grow as a competitive Club we need to make these tournaments a priority.

We have confirmed that we will be attending the following OPL Events 11U, 13U, 15U.

HAWPC UPDATE JAN 16TH – JAN 22ND

We hope everyone had a great holiday. We are all systems go this week, and excited to start 2023. 

If you are new to the HAWPC  family, welcome.  Our Club has been serving the Hamilton Community since 1932 and you are know part of this amazing organization. 

Each week we try to send out a weekly update. In this weekly email we will try to highlight any changes to the schedule for the week ahead, draw parents attention to upcoming tournaments and or events, and also showcase highlights from our amazing athletes. If you miss something, do not worry.

If you have a question about the schedule you can always go onto our website under calendars and access our updated google calendar as well. 

An amazing weekend in the water for our athletes who participated at the 17U NCL TOURNAMENT in Ottawa.  All athletes continued to improve, with several of our Women Capturing Gold with the combined Maverick, HAWPC, Forrest City Team.  Great Work 

This week marks our return to Swim and Play Ball.  As always we will have a mix of returning and new to sport athletes.  For week 1 please bring swimsuit, goggles and a towel.  That is all you need to bring. Parents are welcome to stay and watch in the viewing area which is on deck. Each week we will introduce a new skill with skill acquisition drills tailored to all levels. 

If you have not done so all competitive athletes need to register on team snap.  If you do not receive a second email from team snap this means you.Team Snap is our new method for managing tournament registration.  It is also the easiest method for communicating closures and last minute cancellations.  For competitive athletes it is mandatory that you register with Teamsnap.  For Swim and Play Ball it is highly recommended but not mandatory.
