Across the board all coaches commented that our Athletes continued to get better with every quarter.  Great work.

Great second week of training.  Week 2 and week 3 are notorious for being very content heavy as we introduce many new concepts.  All of the athletes are progressing nicely.   I have attached a youtube video from a tournament in Texas this past Christmas.  The game is between the USA and Serbia.  

****REMINDER NO PRACTICE SUNDAY JANUARY 29th 2022****

We have a change in our schedule this week which is reflected on the Google Calendar.  

Coaches would like to see all 11U and 13U’s at Jimmy Thompson Saturday morning.  

I am trying to get an optional practice opportunity for our 15U and 17U athletes to attend Practice at University of Guelph from 4:00 -5:30 PM on Saturday but this optional Practice is not confirmed as of yet.

The London team has booked a block of rooms for the tournament in February if

anyone wishes to stay over. It’s the Hampton Inn on Exeter Rd. 1-855-215-3323;

March 31st -April 2nd – Etobicoke: March madness 11U, 13U, 15U

April 21st – 23rd – Etobicoke  15U/11U Provincials

May 12-14th – Brantford: 13U Provincials 

We will continue to look for more scrimmage days as we get closer to Provincials.

HAWPC JAN 23RD – 29TH

What an amazing first full week back in the water.  This weekend really showcased the depth of our Club. 

Three  of our athletes were selected to participate at the Summit Series in Montreal.

Congrats to: Rhys CARR, Cal LEES and Stella BABINEAU who not only represented the HAWPC but represented Ontario at this tournament.   

On top of the 3 athletes that attended, another member Jessie TURCOTT was listed as an alternate for the women’s team.

We are extremely proud of them all.  This is a big step for our Club as it has been a long time since we have had this many athletes involved with National Team Selection.

We also had our first game day of 2023 at Wayne Gretzky.  Our 13U’s and 11U’s teams played tough against Scarborough.  Thanks to all of the parents and older athletes who came out and helped make this event happen. 

From athletes representing the Province at the Summit Series, to athletes experiencing Water Polo for the first time at Swim and Play Ball this weekend was insane.

Good luck to all of our athletes who are playing at the Senior Tournament this weekend in Montreal.

Great first week, the energy and enthusiasm from the athletes was amazing. Looking forward to week 2.  Same schedule as last week.

This year we have made the decision to not attend the Titans Cup.  We will look to add extra scrimmages leading up to Provincials. 

In order for us to continue to grow as a competitive Club we need to make these tournaments a priority.

We have confirmed that we will be attending the following OPL Events 11U, 13U, 15U.

February 11th, 12th – London: 11U, 13U, 15U

HAWPC UPDATE JAN 16TH – JAN 22ND

We hope everyone had a great holiday. We are all systems go this week, and excited to start 2023. 

If you are new to the HAWPC  family, welcome.  Our Club has been serving the Hamilton Community since 1932 and you are know part of this amazing organization. 

Each week we try to send out a weekly update. In this weekly email we will try to highlight any changes to the schedule for the week ahead, draw parents attention to upcoming tournaments and or events, and also showcase highlights from our amazing athletes. If you miss something, do not worry.

An amazing weekend in the water for our athletes who participated at the 17U NCL TOURNAMENT in Ottawa.  All athletes continued to improve, with several of our Women Capturing Gold with the combined Maverick, HAWPC, Forrest City Team.  Great Work 

This week marks our return to Swim and Play Ball.  As always we will have a mix of returning and new to sport athletes.  For week 1 please bring swimsuit, goggles and a towel.  That is all you need to bring. Parents are welcome to stay and watch in the viewing area which is on deck. Each week we will introduce a new skill with skill acquisition drills tailored to all levels. 

If you have not done so all competitive athletes need to register on team snap.  If you do not receive a second email from team snap this means you.Team Snap is our new method for managing tournament registration.  It is also the easiest method for communicating closures and last minute cancellations.  For competitive athletes it is mandatory that you register with Teamsnap.  For Swim and Play Ball it is highly recommended but not mandatory.

Dryland training with APEX will return starting January 16th.  We will be running another 8 week session through APEX. WELCOME BACK HAWPC 2023

An amazing weekend of water polo just passed, with over 50 Club athletes participating in various tournaments.  Some great performances, some gold medalists at the NCL Tournament and some really close games.  Based on the performances that we saw this past weekend the coaches feel that numerous age groups will be in position, to medal at Provincials and qualify for Nationals, if we continue to commit to practicing and training hard.

We will have a special extra Swim and Play Ball Session on Wednesday December 6th from 6:30-8:00 PM at Laurier Pool.  To help accommodate with clothing pick up.  

Clothing order is in pick up opportunities are as follows:

December 6th: Laurier Pool (Janeen will be there between 6:45 and 7:00 PM)

Based on the number of competitive athletes, the club will be organizing its teams through the App Team Snap.  Invitations will be out as soon as the platform is ready.  Moving forward Parents need to register and mark availability for tournaments using the platform no exceptions.  

This platform will also be a great way for parents to communicate and organize carpools and various other activities.  

Coming out of the pandemic we really need to develop more cohesion within our teams and hopefully this tool can help with this initiative.

HAWPC DEC 5TH-11TH & CLOTHING

Another insane week with Swim and Play Ball coming to an end, the first weekend of 17U NCL competition happening in Markham and an OPL event for 15U, 13U and 11U in Kitchener.

We conclude the fall session of Swim and Play Ball this week with our final bonus practices happening Tuesday Nov 29th and Wednesday Nov 30th.

Swim and Play Ball is perhaps the most rewarding group to coach because they improve immensely over the “10” weeks.  The transformation in the athletes and their swimming ability and capacity is simply insane.  We are proud of all of our athletes and really look forward to the winter session.  

Thanks to our many coaches who make this program happen.

Winter registration is open and will begin the week of January 8th.

This week we have no weekend practice because our entire club is participating in tournaments. No practices Saturday or Sunday.

Good luck to our 17U athletes who will be competing at the NCL in Markham.

15u, Boys, 13u and 11u teams will be competing at the KW classic.

We were only able to field 1 team for 13u so here is the final schedule.

We are just finalizing our tournament schedule for the rest of the year.  We can confirm the following tournaments, for 2023.  We will finalize which tournament we will be attending. It will either be in Ottawa or Montreal January 27,28,29th or we will go to the Titans Cup in Ottawa February 24th-26th.

Both options will be travel tournament’s and we will need firm commitment by mid December.

We will finalize WHICH TRAVEL tournament we will be attending for the year. It will either be in Ottawa or Montreal January 27,28,29th or we will go to the Titans Cup in Ottawa February 24th-26th.

As we slow down for the pending winter break the Club will be analyzing where we can improve for 2023.  One of the Club’s major goals for the 2022 Winter Break will involve improvement in relation to tournament communication and Specific Team Communication.   

As we continue to grow and evolve as a Club we appreciate everyone’s patience.
